Our History & Mission
The Association of Video Professionals (AVP) was founded as a Delaware Limited Liability Company in 2006 by a group of video studio owners who saw the need to help video companies grow their business. AVP was built from the ground up by our members led by the Board of Directors, who have solid video and corporate startup experience. There are many clubs and associations out there for video professionals but few that care and strive to grow your business like AVP. We exist not only to help in business techniques and technical training but to partner with our members and give them the tools they need to grow successful and striving businesses.

Our online community
AVP maintains an exclusive members only forum where users can ask questions, get answers, and share ideas. This active forum is advertisement and spam free! Topics discussed range from hardware and software technical support, to marketing and sales, to resources and suppliers, and many many more. All topics are well organized and easily searchable for later reference.

Our website presence
AVP has invested (and continues to invest) a significant amount of money in the development and ongoing Search Engine Optimization of our website. The primary goal of this site is to drive leads to our members and listers. As an AVP member, your listing is placed at the top level in your area above all listing levels (Gold, Silver, and Bronze). This one benefit alone could more than pay for your membership!

Weekly Conference calls
Each week we conduct an informative, live, member only conference call. These calls cover topics critical to your video business such as trends in the industry, successful marketing strategies, how to increase your profit margins, tools of the trade, and others topics designed specifically to help you run a more efficient and profitable business. The calls include a mix of group moderated discussions and industry expert guest speakers. All calls are recorded and archived so if you are not able to attend live, you can listen online at a time more convenient for you.

Our Training
You won't want to miss any of AVP's hands-on training events and conferences. Each conference is a fantastic opportunity to network face to face with other video business owners and receive world class training at the same time. Class offerings are selected based on member input and vary by conference. AVP members enjoy a SIGNIFICANT discount on the training and the right to use the ‘AVP Trained’ logo on their website and other marketing materials.

David Mungai – President

David Mungai - Association of Video Professionals, Executive Director Dave Mungai is the Executive Director of the Association of Video Professionals and also the owner of Choice Video Services, Inc., located in sunny Gulf Breeze Florida. Dave and his company were among the first to join the Association of Video Professionals and he could not be more pleased with his decision. Dave spent the better part of 20 years in Corporate America. Starting out as a computer support engineer, he eventually moved into Network Engineering and Technical Project Management. He ended his corporate career as a Director over a large Project Management Office that installed computer networks throughout the US, Canada, and the Caribbean.

To spite Dave's success in the corporate arena, his long time passion with Videography and Photography finally got the better of him. In 2005, Dave decided to break the bounds of Corporate America and follow his dream. He formed Choice Video Services and has not looked back since. Dave states that one of the key factors contributing to the success of his growing business is his affiliation with the Association of Video Professionals. "The support and camaraderie found in this group is unlike anything I've experienced or heard of before. It's a pleasure to be part of an organization that genuinely cares about it's members and who's sole purpose is to help them succeed".

David Shereck - Association of Video Professionals, Secretary After leaving the corporate world in 2004, David Shereck founded Shereck Video Services. Since that time, David has built his company into a leading provider of video services in the New York metropolitan area. From video transfer & duplication, to all types of video production & editing David ensures that his diversified portfolio of video services meets all of his clients’ needs. As a founding member of the Association of Video Professionals (AVP), David was elected to serve on the Board of Directors as Vice President. Says David, “I am extremely honored to be selected to serve on the Board at AVP. We are a very strong & cohesive group of video studio owners nationwide. We are here to help each other & grow our respective businesses. It’s very comforting to know, that although we all run our own businesses, we are not alone.” Prior to Shereck Video, David’s background consists of positions in the travel industry at American Express & United Airlines. With David’s Fortune 50 work experience, he brings his wealth of business knowledge & experience to small business America.

Jeff DeMello – Chief Financial Officer

Jeff DeMello - Association of Video Professionals, Treasurer Jeff is the owner of DeMello Video and Photo Services, doing video production, editing, transfer, and duplication. Previously he was the Director of Product Management for Cranite Systems, Inc., a in San Jose, CA, producing computer security products for Wireless Internet Access. Prior to Cranite, Jeff was a Senior Product Manager in the Internet Security Division at Hewlett-Packard in Cupertino. He was formerly the Director of Worldwide Security Evaluations for Oracle Corporation and also an original founder and board member of Epoch Software Systems, Inc. Jeff is currently the Secretary of the Board and previous President of the BD Performing Arts Board of Directors and has been a member of the board since 1998.

Mike Roe – Secretary

Mike Roe - Association of Video Professionals, Secretary Originally majoring in Film and Video in college, Mike graduated with a degree in Computer Science. This background helped him, right out of college, to modify computers in order to edit video, while working as a software engineer. Mike is also a sound tech for his church and his mix of audio and video experience has really helped him take his passion for A/V to a new level. After doing video work on the side for 8 years, he decided to take his hobby and build a growing, award-winning company. Mike is a member of the Lilburn Business Association, he is on the planning committe for Lilburn's "Music on Main" event, and a member of the Development Committee for Dream House for Medically Fragile Children. Mike Roe Video Services, Inc. was founded in 2004, in Metro Atlanta, GA, and continues to grow every day.

Steven Volk – Director at Large

Steven Volk - Association of Video Professionals, Director at Large In the late 70's Steven Volk started his visual media career with a photography and darkroom business for processing B/W film and color enlargements. This first transitional era from 8mm film to the VHS and Beta Camcorders taught him the fun of being an early adaptor of technology.

The early 80's expanded his skills by adapting computer based accounting and database systems. The late 80's and early 90's brought digital music on CD's, digital cameras and internet communications.

The 90's brought the era of PowerPoint, video, and computer generated graphics to tell stories. 35 years later he brings this experience to a professional "digital darkroom" for production, transfer, editing, web video, DVD/CD duplication and computer graphics all to communicate his client's personal and professional stories.
